Helping Hands

Where are you located?
My office is Located in Georgetown, in a separate part of my house 254 Main St. South Georgetown

Do I have to be referred by my GP?
No, but some extended healthcare providers require a doctor’s note before they will reimburse your treatment costs — check with your provider.

Will my extended health care company cover osteopathy?
Yes, most benefit companies cover osteopathy — check with your provider. Receipts are given with every treatment.

What kinds of conditions is osteopathy able to treat?
A great variety of health issues can be treated — and at every stage of life, from infancy to old age. All treatments are uniquely personalized to the individual first and then the particular treatment needs of the condition. Click here for a list of problems I deal with. Please call or email me if you want to chat about your situation.

How long are appointments?
Your first appointment will be about an hour as it will include a thorough medical history as well as a treatment.  The next appointment will be about 30-40 minutes.

How many treatments will I need?
Typically three to six treatments are needed. This varies according to your age, general health, and severity of the problem. The longer the problem has been present in the body, the longer it will take to heal and be resolved. At some point you will be given exercises/stretches and other advice — the rate of your healing and recovery will depend on how well you comply with my advice between sessions.

Do I have to get undressed?
Because Osteopathic Manual Therapy treats the whole body, I usually need to assess the whole body and not just the symptomatic area. It is preferred to examine and treat you in minimal clothing such as a sports bra or tank top and sports shorts.

Does the treatment hurt?
Osteopathic treatment itself should not be painful and is often relaxing, but some particularly overstrained area may feel tender during treatment. You may also be sensitive and sore for a day or so after treatment as your body adjusts to the changes. This is quite normal and part of a normal healing response, but please feel free to contact me if you have any questions or concerns.

Payments:

Payments are made at the end of each treatment by either cash or cheque. Receipts will be given for each treatment.

If possible, please leave yourself lots of time to get to your appointment. Plan to arrive 5 minutes early, that way you are relaxed and ready to begin treatment at your scheduled time.

All treatments are by appointment only.
I require a 24-hr cancellation notice, otherwise you will be billed IN FULL for a missed appointment.
